What Members & Friends Think of FCC

“I was a Southern Baptist, Ann was a Presbyterian. This was the perfect blending church. We both felt welcomed by the warm and friendly members. It was a great place to raise our daughter. Now, Ann’s parents have joined us from Nashville and have found a place of their own at First Christian Church.”

What a wonderful church "family". The friendliness, nurturing, love and support of the congregation truly make it feel like family.

We receive spiritual growth from worship services, Sunday school, bible studies, and all of the fellowship activities at First Christian Church.

There’s a place for everyone who joins this wonderful church family.

Shalom,
Jim and Beverly Baxter

People who attend First Christian Church often refer to it as their “home” church.  Wonder why?  The Scott Long’s think they have the answer.

First Christian Church is a home for the “family of God” – all of us.  It is not a palace for a king, but a place where The Father makes everyone there a king.  It is a place where we learn about God and how Jesus, His son, the king of kings, gave His life so that we may have peace in our lives and live in His love forever.

Attending fellowship events, singing hymns, praying together, studying scripture and listening to sermons are ways the people of First Christian Church grow and worship together.

There is a sweet spirit in our church.  A sense of support can be felt within and without the walls of the church – both for church family and in church outreach.

On many occasions, the Scott Long family has experienced the outpouring of care and concern that can come from First Christian Church.  It has astonished us and lifted us through tough situations.  There have been times when the accepting attitudes and unconditional love shown to our family have absolutely amazed us.

This type of love is Christian Love, and it is found at First Christian Church, our church “home”.

Scott, Kathey, Reesa, Brandy and Scotty have been members of FCC for several years.

Kathey and Scott were married in FCC downtown in 1966.

Although raised by Methodist parents, I married Roslyn, a member of the First Christian Church in Metropolis, IL, and soon afterwards, transferred my membership there. Subsequently, we moved our membership to FCC in every town in which we lived. I have had the honor of serving as elder in our churches in Illinois, Arkansas, and Alabama. I have First Christian Church of Birmingham to epitomize what a church should be. We were warmly accepted, encouraged to accept responsibility, and the congregation has been tolerant of my personal short-comings. Nowhere have we been as aware of your love and acceptance as we have here at FCC Birmingham. Thank you for giving us the best church home we have ever had.
