Blue Bell moments ahhh, does that ring your bell? Yes, the Young at Heart is taking that promised trip to Sylacauga... to the Blue Bell Ice Cream factory. Yum, can you taste it now? Our trip will begin with a lunch in Sylacauga, Artena Maries Cafe about a block from Blue Bell, and then we will tour the production of ice cream at Blue Bell sounds fun? We will meet at the church Wednesday morning at 10:00 on November 18. Be sure to sign up for this fun trip and bring along a hungry friend. The Shack

Have you read the book The Shack by William P. Young? As the cover suggests, Eugene Peterson said, “This book has the potential to do for our generation what John Bunyan’s, “Pilgrim’s Progress”, did for his. It’s that good!” It is indeed a book where tragedy confronts eternity. We all have experienced tragedy in our lives. This book forces us to deal with those unforeseeable situations in our lives. It invites us to think and re-think our own perception and belief system of God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit. It challenges us to examine our theology and our faith in such a way that we can not help but to come away stronger Christians. If you have read the book or would like to, you are invited to join a four week study and discussion. During the month of October, we will meet Wednesday evenings at 5:30-6:30 in the Fireside Room. Please be on time and invite others who you feel would be interested. And don’t forget your book. Everyone is welcome. If you have any questions please contact Mary Pat at 991-5000 or marypat@fcc-bhm.org.

Young at Heart

Are you ready for a walk on the wild side? Our trip this month is really tame but, we are going to visit the wild… that is, the Alabama Wildlife Rescue Center at Oak Mountain. Sounds fun? We will leave the church at 9:30 am and be there at 10:00 am. They have promised us a visit up close and personal to one of the creatures that they have rescued at this time. We can then take a look around and see the other animals (and the leaves will be just beautiful at this time of the year on the mountain too!). Then it’s off to Dale’s Grill in Hoover for lunch. They are expecting us for a Dutch treat at 11:30am. Sign up on the poster in the narthex and get ready with the cameras and let’s go… Bring along a friend if you like too! That’s October, 28th at 9:30 am. See you! Janet.
