Fourth Regional Transformational Event

What if the church were really a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world? What if we here at FCC or anywhere as the body of Christ really did welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us? What If..?  This is the theme of our fourth Regional Transformational Event which will be held here at our church on February 18-19th. This event will explore possible answers to these questions through worship and workshops.  Dr. Todd Adams, our Associate General Minister of the Christian Church (DOC), will lead us in worship on Friday night at 7:30. Our First Christian children will sing during worship, and our Chi Rho and CYF will lead us in the communion meditation. Registration begins at 8:00 on Saturday where you may sign up for three of the seven workshops. The event includes a delicious lunch prepared, cooked and served by our own CYF youth. We are excited to offer this educational and spiritual transformation event that is sponsored by the Regional Church Development Committee of which Mary Pat is the chair. Make plans now to attend and discover – What If? Look for more information about workshop and leaders in the next Visitor.

Chi Rho and CYF Resurrection Event

Our Chi Rho and CYF youth and their sponsors will participate in a youth event sponsored by the United Methodist Church in Gatlinburg, Tennessee over the MLK weekend. The event is called “Resurrection,” which is an annual event of worship and spiritual growth. Each year over 12,000 youth and their sponsors come together to celebrate the God of the Resurrection. Through inspirational words by nationally known speakers and music led by well-known musicians, young people encounter the Lord in new and deeper ways. Resurrection gives evidence to the common experience of Jesus Christ’s Lordship that binds all believers. The youth come from all over the Eastern United States as well as many denominations.  This year we have 18 youth attending. We will depart Friday, January 14 at 1:00 pm and stay in cabins in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. We will return Monday, January 17 in the afternoon.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service

On Christmas Eve we will have two worship services to celebrate the birth of Christ. The first service is at 7:00 pm. It will be a contemporary service that will be family and child friendly.  Our Kids Praise group will share a cute children’s Christmas musical entitled “Aaron, The Allergic Shepherd” at the 7:00 pm service. They are excited to be able to present this as the Christmas Eve meditation this year. It tells the story of a little shepherd boy allergic to sheep and the lesson he learned on that special night so long ago when Emmanuel came to dwell among us. The kids are having a fun time getting ready for this Christmas Eve service; so come out and support them as we all worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the eve of His birth. The second service will be a traditional service at 11:00 pm. This service will be more formal with a sermon and will be by candlelight. Both services will have the worshippers walking forward to receive Communion. Also, they will both end with the congregation singing “Silent Night” by candlelight. The nursery will be open for both services.
