Monthly Men's Meeting

A man named Rock is looking to build a very special place for children ages 12-18 with addictive issues.

Come hear his testimony on how his ministry titled “The Transformation Ranch” will provide a Christ-centered long term facility with emphasis on spiritual and clinical treatment that will lead young people to look to God as the anchor in their lives. A former F-16 fighter pilot for twenty-one years and a Captain for United Airlines Rock’s story and call to the ministry are moving to say the least.

Come join us on Men’s Night, Monday, May 23rd at 6:30 pm at the church. Steve Pasky along with the James Gang will provide their usual fine meal. If you plan to attend please sign-up on the sheet in the narthex. Don’t miss this very special message Rock Hobbs has to share. It will give you a lift.

Pentecost Sunday

Pentecost is the day on which the Christian Church celebrates the gift of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and others assembled in Jerusalem. It marks the beginning of the Christian Church and the proclamation of its message throughout the world and is often referred to as the birthday of the church.

We will celebrate Pentecost in some special ways. After worship, we will go outside and gather in the parking lot. A flock of doves will be released. As they fly in a circle around our church grounds, they will symbolize the coming of the Holy Spirit. It should be a very special moment.

Also, after worship, we will gather in the Family Life Center for a pot luck lunch. Everyone is encouraged to bring their favorite dish. The church will provide drinks and a birthday cake.

Invite a friend to church for this great day. Remember to wear red. It is the color of the fire and Spirit of Pentecost.

New Christian Comrades Study

We begin our Christian Apologetics Curriculum starting with Islam on Sunday, May 9th.

The word "apologetics" never actually appears in the Bible, but there is a verse which contains its meaning: But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have”. (1 Peter 3:15).

Where did the Arabs come from? Who is Mohammad? Are Allah & Yahweh the same God? What is Fatwa & Jihad? Are Muslims converting to Christianity?

Come & join us at 9:00am each Sunday morning in the Farkas Room & find out.

Celebrate Hoover Day

Do you ever feel filled to overflowing when you leave the fellowship of First Christian? Do you wonder how you could help others know that joy? We have the perfect solution!

First Christian has a nice, tented booth with a table and chairs at the Celebrate Hoover Day on May 2nd, at the Veteran’s Park here on Valleydale.

We need smiling, joyful, outgoing volunteers to help man our booth. We will introduce our wonderful church to folks and pass out information on Vacation Bible School and our many church programs – all with a side of candy! It’s fun! Let us know if you will help!

Shifts are 1:30-3:30 and 3:30-5:30. Contact Edd or Clarissa if you are available. The more the merrier!

Young at Heart Event

Tallapoosa, Red Sticks, Gen. Jackson, Horseshoe Bend, Chief Menowa and Pastor Edd- What do all these names have in common?  All but General Jackson are from Alabama.

Well, to get our history correct, Alabama was not even a state until 1819, and the events that we will tour and learn about were all at Horseshoe Bend before that date. Pastor Edd will be driving our church bus. We will stop in Alexander City for lunch at a great cafe.

Sign up now and be ready to go on Tuesday, April 27.

FYI...The Red Sticks are part of the Creek nation and our tour guide will be Alabama Park Ranger, Sean Williams.

                                                                                                            See you, Janet
